We're moving in....

And plan to address issues that will impact the US Electronics Industry
This space is reserved for US Competitors. Perhaps a blip on the radar screen, but not yet ready to ride off into the sunset.

My horse and I are concerned about the future of the US electronics because of the strong global competition in this market. Our concerns are directly related to outsourcing of manufacturing (subcontracting by original equipment manufacturers). Of course, much of this is taking place offshore, eg: Taiwan, Peoples Republic of China, Eastern Europe. Turn-key design-build is also beginning to take shape, where OEMs outsource design and full system assembly.

In a global marketplace, these are the facts of life. Perhaps no where else in our economy are such deflationary factors so advanced. Many OEMs, forced into this outsourcing mode, now see significant advantages to this. Downsizing of personnel. Low cost labor. Freeing up capital to strengthen market share.

But these trends must be detailed and understood. Their impact on important domestic activities should be known, eg: company-funded university research, graduate school demographics, direct company R&D spending, direct company capital investment, industry employment. With electronics as one of the largest contributors to employment, capital spending and GDP, what do these trends mean to the US economy down the road?

We will be moving our belongings in shortly.
